Karkade Company
From 2013 I am working with László László Révész with whom we form a team of author-directors. Our works are in the realm of theatre, sound plays and performances, film and installation emerge in constellations of two or solo as well. Since 2013, several of our works have been written collectively under the label Karkade Company. Since 2015 Christian Zillner is the team member of Karkade Company. At the focus of our work is the continuous development of pieces that has humour and also allow the viewer to experience unusual perspectives on our reality.
CAN
CAN was the first play of Karkade Company performed in 2014 in an old factory building outside district of Budapest. The performers of the play were the acrobat students of Tanext Akadémia School and Kaboló Acrobat School.

Performers on the day of the premier
We were working with the acrobat student for nine months. The goal was to put together two different knowledge : acrobat perfection and the freedom of a performance. An other challenge was to show the piece in a space which was not created for performance. The nine months was constant brainwork and training to form the conditions of our disposal to an expected final result. The presented performance was born as a compound of will, intent, motivation, joy, extreme amount of focusing on the moment and was totally different that we prepared for.

Concept of the play :
The piece shows the contrast of knowledge and ignorance. There are two groups Civilians and Non-Civilians in this play. Non-Civilians do not have much opportunity to lash out on the stage just as loosely as Civilians are allowed. They have to solve acrobatic tasks, and at the same time, they must reach a place using an unseen map. The unseen map is full of intersections, paths, and squares. Civilians have a clear responsibility to somehow 'have to visualise this harsh geometric image' of the map. They're not going to do anything with words ! They can give or take maximum sounds and different tools. Non Civilians are too perfect, too aggressive. They can build every movement every action into their system. Ultimately, the Civilians will try to do anything to make this system chaotic, is it not going to succeed. Is there any surprise in the end ?

Blue Panther
Working on Blue Panther we were interested how to combine live movements with projection. The piece is a 'radio play' (in English) written by László László Révész 2003. The sound of the 'radio play’ was recorded with an Irish writer. The Blue Panther is expanding with the technical and visual inventory of the expanded cinema in the '60s, and reinterprets it with the specific use of the dramaturgical surprise sound, image and silence. The piece tries to remove the viewer from a present smooth mood into an active alert, fresh state of mind. Again, we are kids where the limits of vision, experimentation, play, learning are blurred and an astonishing experience will be all.

Blue Panther himself is a clumsy, clamorous, bald detective in Budapest who is a hyper-investigator of a sting. The play was freely given the title after the Pink Panther. Working with the students of Tanext Akademy and Kaboló Mozgásművészeti Műhely we filmed scenes from the life of Mr Blue Panther. After editing the video we combined the projected reality with the presence of the acrobats.
